For $49, today's side deal gets you an all-screening pass to the Sacramento Film & Music Festival at the Crest Theatre (a $120 value). During the 10-day festival, you'll get access to 24 film screenings and over 100 films. Though this Groupon is not valid for the Walking Dreams screening and artist David Garibaldi’s live performance on Thursday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m., you'll get a half off discount ticket (normally $20) to the event, which also includes a charity auction, plus admission to the opening reception on Friday, July 23 & closing night after-party on Sunday, August 1.

Currently in its 11th year, the Sacramento Film & Music Festival showcases a wide range of film genres from around the world while working to sponsor the art of filmmaking in the Sacramento region. A juried and submission-based festival, SF&MF provides filmgoers with access to a bevy of screenings that include full-length films, music videos, animated shorts, and more. On Sunday, August 1, at 5 p.m., attendees can check out 10x10 Filmmaker Challenge entries to see 10-minute films shot in a mere 10 days or less by local teams. Also available are the Mario Van Peebles feature Black, White and Blues and Sacramento’s only screening of the cult hit Best Worst Movie. Dig into a heaping helping of film culture while supporting local arts with today’s Groupon to the Sacramento Film & Music Festival.

Not valid for Walking Dreams and David Garibaldi’s live performance.

Reviews

Though there are few reviews of the Sacramento Film & Music Festival, it has received extensive press in previous years, including two features in the Sacramento News & Review, as well as coverage from the Capitol Weekly and the Sacramento Movie Examiner.

  • Festival founder Nathan Schemel, for instance, has figured out how to be gracious and tenacious at once. “I would call people in our second year,” he recalled recently, “and they would not call back and slam the door in my face or whatever. Now they see we’re not going away. It’s gratifying to me to see more support." – Jonathan Kiefer, Sacramento News & Review
