This Groupon gently stretches your muscles and joints, a pleasant sensation sought after by bungee cords, Laffy Taffies, and Stretch Armstrongs the world over. For $35, you get 10 yoga classes at Rain City Yoga, a clean, spacious studio in the University District that teaches several yoga traditions; with this Groupon, you can take Prana Vinyasa, Bikram yoga, and meditation yoga. A 10-class card usually costs $105 at Rain.
Classes take place several times a day and last for an hour and 15 minutes. You don't have to call, e-mail, or telepathically radio ahead; they welcome drop-ins. Try yoga in a hot class: the heat makes deep stretching easier as you meditate and bend your body into optimum working order. Rain City's instructors are friendly, experienced yogites who want every student to sweat and stretch until they're more calm, energized, and revitalized than an ancient rain-forest battery. This Groupon is good for new clients only.
If you're new to yoga, this is a great chance to learn the downward dog, upward dog, and plank. Yoga stretches your muscles, releasing lactic acid that causes stiffness and pain. It also increases flexibility and strength (deep core muscles support each pose), which improves range of motion, balance, and posture (good posture is vital to moving up in the corporate world, seeing over the steering wheel, and sitting down).

History of Hot Yoga
Hot Yoga, in which yoga is practiced in rooms heated to an insanely hot temperature, was first discovered by accident during the Great Yoga Fire of 1556. The danger to students in the burning yoga studio was undeniable, but so too were the increased benefits of practicing yoga in such extreme heat. All 44 students declined to leave the studio and were killed.
For the next 400 years, there were no safe methods to practice Hot Yoga, until modern technology allowed practitioners to exercise without danger of catching on fire. Today you get all the benefits of being on fire with none of the drawbacks.
