Today's Groupon gets you $40 worth of new American cuisine for $20 at the Fourth Estate restaurant. Housed within the National Press Club, the restaurant is open to members and non-members alike. The National Press Club is the stomping ground of journalists, politicians, authors, and dignitaries, so don't be surprised if you spot a TV crew interviewing an important person while you're savoring the meats important people eat.
The rotating dinner menu is small, but stocked with big flavors in new American dishes such as timbale of cous cous, grilled ahi tuna with tomato cilantro risotto, and seared scallops with orzo pasta. Fare changes regularly depending on what fresh and flavorful meats and produce the chef can get from organic and small farmers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Recent lunch offerings, which rotate daily, have included white wine poached pears with mixed organic greens and crumbled Gorgonzola and apricot-glazed, pine-nut-crusted salmon with tomato salsa and avocado. Fourth Estate offers a staggering array of wines and enough goat-, cow-, and sheep-milk cheeses to match. Or exercise your constitutional right to raisin-bread French toast and steak and eggs with mimosas and Bloody Marys during brunch.
The restaurant also has regular book discussions and dinners with recipes from with noted cookbook authors and chefs paired with wines from around the world (click here to see past and future events). Fourth Estate's elegant dining room has wood chairs, white tablecloths, pure white plates, sparkling wine glasses, and warm earth-toned walls, so you could make a real mess if you wanted to. A regally patterned carpet and wood-paneled walls make the space even classier. It's the perfect place for a business lunch or intimate dinner.

Groupon investigative researchers recently picked up some notable gossip documenting the little rituals and superstitions that news anchors perform before going on-air each night. Here are just a few that have been divulged to us:
- Edward R. Murrow: Consumed entire roast chicken in under one minute.
- Walter Cronkite: Split wooden plank over face and screamed "Get some!" into camera.
- Sam Donaldson: Does his own eyebrows.
- Barbara Walters: Lies fully clothed in empty bathtub listening to MP3s of whale songs.
