From Our Editors
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our history speaks for itself, stemming directly from Wally Jay, a contemporary of Bruce Lee. Having come from Hawaii, Professor Jay emphasized quality instruction in a very fun, very family-like atmosphere. We are a family of martial artists, and together we train for tournament and self defense.
What equipment is provided? Is there anything visitors need to bring?
First time students need only bring athletic apparel, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
In a word, passion. Our instructors all grew up in the martial arts community. There is an in-built desire to teach beginners, to grow the art, to bring Judo and Jujitsu to as many people as possible. We all want to teach, to learn, and to have as much fun as possible.
What do you love most about your job?
There is nothing better than seeing beginners progress. I love watching the lightbulbs pop when a complex technique suddenly becomes simple. I love to see students in their first tournaments, to watch them fight, win ferociously, and lose graciously. Not to mention that training is just plain fun!
