About Ryushinkan Aikido

Ryushinkan Aikido provides a safe environment to learn a traditional martial art! We welcome beginner students and help them learn at their own pace. Our classes do not require muscular strength--rather, Aikido functions through proper timing and use of angles. Our name, Ryushinkan (流心館), translates to ‘Flowing Mind School’, with the first syllable, ryu (流), holding ancient meaning of hope in a new path of life. We are located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria's waterfront, right on King Street. Come check us out--you might just love it!

My wife and I had a great time doing this! The instructors and friendly and attentive, the dojo is nice, and aikido is really fun.

Awesome instructor and classmates, especially for a beginner like myself. Instructor was patient, focused on technique and explained the purpose behind the different instructions that were given. I look forward to my next class.

This was my first martial arts class and it was so much fun! Lincoln Sensei has a very easy to follow along teaching style and is very patient. I was able to get the basic moves down in a couple of classes. The class size was small so there were lots of individual instruction. The hardest part for me was sitting still for meditation! I will be signing up for more Aikido classes here!
