About this Business
From Our Editors
Underneath a canopy of oak trees stands Sanctuary Yoga, a space so peaceful and beautiful it's been used as a wedding venue and photo-shoot location, as well as a place to practice healing yoga in close-knit intimate classes. Unlike chain studios or soulless big-box yoga warehouses, Sanctuary Yoga is purely nonprofit, with all proceeds going toward the Amala Foundation's youth camps and service projects for refugee and immigrant children.
Each instructor on the staff draws from a unique personal journey and professional experiences while teaching yoga, from philosophy degrees and certifications in Oriental Medicine to backgrounds in surfing, acrobatics, and dance. Clients work alongside new friends, and fellow yoga practitioners build their mind and body with a diverse schedule of classes, from the soothing, gentle Vinyasa Flow or Kundalini, which incorporates live music that might include sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, or whales rapping.
