Blue Iris Therapy owner Jeanette Jones may be an improv comedian in her spare time, but she knows there's nothing funny about chronic pain. That's why she and her team begin each massage at the tranquil studio with a thorough consultation so that they can taylor a treatment to the client's exact needs. The resulting massage may incorporate elements of Swedish massage, a style known for its relaxing, gliding motions, as well as deep-tissue work and sports massage. And, of course, clients are encouraged to communicate openly during the treatment, giving cues as to their preferred level of pressure, and guiding the therapist toward any areas of heightened tension.
