Cowabunga Burgers may be a food truck, but don't be fooled by its simple, four-wheeled setup in Austin Food Park. The head of the truck's kitchen, Phillip Hales, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Austin, and he drew on this prestigious training when creating the truck's gourmet burgers. Only the freshest and best ingredients go on the Grade-A beef or black bean burgers, with topping choices that include jalapenos, sauteed mushrooms, and Swiss or cheddar cheese, and each customized creation is sandwiched between the halves of a pillowy bun made by local purveyor Sweetish Hill Bakery. Diners can dig in al fresco at the picnic tables that surround the truck, complimenting their burgers with fries.
