Four Things to Know About Gourdough’s
When publications like GQ, and The New York Times spotlight an airstream trailer 1,700 miles from New York City, it’s probably worth checking out. Boasting a coveted position as one of the 10 Best Donghnut Shops in the U.S. according to The Huffington Post , Gourdough’s serves madcap, decadent, and critically acclaimed donuts. Learn more about this beloved trailer-turned-donut-shop:
The donuts are anything but ordinary. Of the more than 23 donuts on the menu, the one that seems to garner the most attention is the Mother Clucker, a glazed donut with fried chicken strips and honey butter. But don’t overlook the Porky’s with Canadian bacon and jalapeno jelly, or The Carney with apple pie topping, dry roast peanuts, and caramel.
They work out of a hip, vintage airstream trailer. The original location is an airstream trailer from the ‘50s, which slings more than 20 donuts. Patrons can grab them to go or grab a seat on one of the picnic tables and eat them right there on the spot.
It also operates two donut-centric pubs. Gourdough’s added two brick-and-mortar locations to its operation. In addition to the signature sweet donuts, Gourdough’s Public Houses offer savory donut meals, including donut burgers and entrees, such as the chicken and donut dumplings with slow-cooked chicken and a garlic donut on the side.
You’re free to think outside the menu. At the vintage trailer, customers can get in on the mad science by creating their own unique donut. Just pick an icing, a filling, and three toppings, choosing from a list that includes the likes of peach filling, grilled bananas, cake-mix, bacon, and maple syrup icing.
