Austin Beer Fest was overcrowded and ridiculously expensive. I could have gone to a beer garden style bar and drank more & spent less. There were Lines at every booth, we spent more time waiting in line than enjoying drinking beer.

When you are standing in line to get into the beer fest and angry people are leaving the event warning you not to waste your time going in, you should listen. My friends and I made the mistake of not listening and experienced the poor organization for ourselves.

its incredibly crowded and the lines aren't managed well, it takes about 15 minutes to get a sample of beer, and the sample couldn't even fill a shot glass.

Event was the most misrepresented event I've ever attended. Unexpected fee to park at a venue that has essentially unlimited parking ($10), insufficient help to check festival goers in (people in line for over an hour just to get in, and wholly misrepresented number of breweries represented. Layout and execution of event was horrible. Event was solely a money grab by whomever sponsored this event. Complete and utter joke that amounted to nothing more than theft from festival attendees.

Please attend a beer festival before putting one on. For example- in San Antonio, San Francisco, Portland or even Phoenix, to learn what a real beer festival looks like, how to process people through the gate, how it is set up to be aesthetically interesting, what appropriate entertainment is, how to spread out the crowds, and how they accommodate the people that pay to attend.

Really need to be more truthful in your advertising.

From Our Editors

The Austin Beer Fest brings together a host of breweries that teases tongues with more than 500 brews under one roof. While guests explore the event, brewers from Southern Star Brewing Company to Circle Brewing Company distribute samples as sponsor Guadalupe Brewing Company debuts new brews and Sam Adams pours rarely seen exclusive varieties. Fest-goers receive six tickets redeemable for beer samples and can purchase more tickets for $2 apiece or opt to purchase a 12-ounce cup of a newly discovered favorite.

While patrons meander through the vast aisles of samples, tasting brews and feeling welcome to make public displays of beer affection, three music stages serenade quaffers with the tunes of DJ Trouble, 10 Years, and other local rock, hip-hop, and electronic acts. The Austin Beer Fest also plays to patrons’ competitive sides with beer-pong and flip-cup tournaments and hosts food vendors selling brew-complementary fare from brats to crayfish.
