His parents named him Sherwood Swartz, but Dr. Wu Dhi’s name change was not made in vain. A student of various Chinese medicine traditions, Dr. Dhi received several designations from each school; one such name was Wu Di, meaning “has no enemies.” A Tibetan lama, however, later changed that moniker to Wu Dhi. The addition of an h may seem insignificant to the untrained eye, but that little consonant is actually a prestigious honor indicating wisdom. Today, a practitioner of Chinese medicine for more than three decades, Dr. Wu Dhi helms Whole Life Health and Wellness, where he demonstrates his wisdom through a variety of holistic treatments, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and body-mind clearing.
