Q&A with Andre, Personal Trainer And Bootcamp Teacher
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
I constantly change my bootcamp classes so that clients don't get bored with a routine—and I make them fun.
What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
I personally have lost 50 pounds, but most of my clients so far have not come to me for weight loss but for improvement of their general fitness or because they are working towards a special event like a half marathon or a triathlon. I have helped clients to shave minutes off of their running times and assisted one client in completing an ironman triathlon.
Do you believe in the maxim, "No pain, no gain”? Why or why not?
Working hard is different from real pain and it is important to recognize the difference. My wife is a sports physiotherapist so if someone is in real pain, then I will alter an exercise and change a program. If they are just in need of motivation, then I will push them.
