The Chicago Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry's Thomas Jackson, DDS applies advanced training mastered at the University of Pennsylvania to help restore smiles through dental implants and crowns. Dental implants begin to fill the void left by missing teeth by replacing the root of the tooth with a titanium screw that unites with the jawbone around it through oseointegration. Once dental implants have been fully adopted by their foster mouths, they stand ready to accept crowns, snap-on dentures, or semipermanent swirly-straws (none of which are included in the first package). The dental-implant and crown package outfits mouths with a natural-looking, porcelain tooth starting with the placement of an abutment. Three to six months after having the implant put in place, patients return to receive their titanium abutment, which serves as a sturdy stage from which the artificial tooth can join other chompers in a smiling chorus. Once in place, the dental implant and crown are designed to look, feel, and function just like original teeth and last for a lifetime with proper care.
