From Our Editors
Owned by chocolate inamorata Hasty Torres, Madame Chocolat delivers fine-quality Belgian chocolates that are as rich and ornate as the interior décor and gold ceiling of the store. Torres utilizes techniques she learned while studying under legendary pastry chef and chocolatier Jacques Torres to craft her whimsical creations, free of additives and preservatives, on-site. After downing a breakfast of milk-chocolate-coated Cheerios ($10), check a milk-chocolate watch ($12) to see if it’s the appropriate time for a dark-chocolate cigar ($18), or a cup of Madame's hot chocolate ($20 per package), which combines 72% Belgian and 60% dark-chocolate shavings. Bonbons ($25 for a box of 12) are artistic morsels in cute designs such as the Je T'aime, a creamy peanut-butter-filled chocolate shaped like a ladybug.
