Great run for kids and adults.
It wasn't fun and by the time I did get to any obstacles, they didn't seem fun/ interesting for me to do them. Everyone was really trying to get through it. It was the first time I've seen that many people off to the side sitting under trees and on the ground with cramps. Wouldn't recommend this venue.
I love running spartan races and wanted to introduce my girls to them. Great venue for kids to challenge themselves and just have some fun. Would recommend for adults too.
Tough, but fun totally worth it!
Don't EVER use Groupon to enter a Spartan race. You forfeit your ability to defer a race if you are not able to attend. You will not be told this even if you inquire. Either because of poorly trained employees or purposely untruthfulness so people still buy it, I'm not sure.
I was going to use a Groupon for the Spartan Race. Due to a recent shoulder surgery, I was unsure if I would be recovered enough to race. So, I called Spartan to check if I could defer using a Groupon. I received no reply from any of my injuries. I then contacted Chronotrack, the company that processes the entries. I was told I could, it would just take an extra step if I had to change it. Therefore, I went ahead to bought the Groupon.
I had to defer to a later race, not because of my shoulder, but because I was hit by a car training for the race and had several broken bones. I went to Chronotrack to process the deferral. They charged me an additional $35.00 processing fee and processed the deferral. When I attempted to apply their code to the new race, it did not work. I talked with Chrono. They again stated I could use it, I just needed to call Spartan and have them issue me a new code. When I contacted Spartan, I was told that I could not transfer the entry because it was a Groupon.
End of the day, I checked and was told I could defer, twice. The entry processing company agreed and did process the request for an additional fee. Then I was told no and that I was getting no refund from Groupon, Spartan and Chronotrack . . . they now has $35 additional dollars of my money for nothing.
My husband and I love spartan races. Big bear lake was nice because there were actual restrooms (not just portapotties). And there was food and shops. The race was hard - basically all uphill and then steep downhill.
Love spartan races! The Big Bear Lake race was tough but fun!
I love it do it if you can
