Sams' grill went out of business before I could redeem the coupon. About a week after.

No one answered phone at 4:45 PM when I first called to make reservation. Sara answered on my 3rd call, did not seem to note name/time info. Cesar salad at $8 for bagged lettuce, cheese & croutons was huge disappointment - all s/b fresh at that price. For patio shade - maybe all umbrellas on railing could be raised to cast shade shadow on tables next-row in?

Here's exceprt from a review I wrote on YELP: There was little to report about our first trip to Sam's that is positive. Service was friendly, but inattentive. We had to send food back that came out cold. Server didn't bring promised items. And the food was boring and quality uneven. The "queso" on the nachos is a complete joke; more like flavorless glue. Just go to Qdoba or Chipotle. You'll spend less money and get better quality food and far superior service. No second chances here.

Need better service (with water refills, extra napkin requests, box to take "to go", to pay bill in a timely manner, etc). Food was pretty good. A bit noisy with the music.

The calamari is bland. Either improve it or take it off them menu. The hamburgers are good, but there is nothing to distinguish the food from any other restaurant and there are numerous other excellent choices in the area.

Not very special food. Slow service. Interior very dark. Meals arrived at different times. Tasted like instant iced tea.

Food was so-so. Nobody else was there (red flag!). My server was very nice and attentive. I has a lunch menu where the nachos were $9 and the BLT was $7.99 yet my tab said $10 each. It was corrected though.

From Our Editors

At Sam’s Grill, formerly known as Oak City, the menu's bounty of sizzling and hearty dishes reflects the best of American cuisine by incorporating a variety of our country's ever-present international influences. Though stir-fries and pastas abound, the Mediterranean is clearly the restaurant's greatest inspiration—dishes such as filet mignon kebobs and pizzas topped with gyro meat create a fusion of local and overseas flavors, and more traditional American dishes, such as the Cajun burger or baby back ribs keep palates firmly at home. Meanwhile, wine-savvy waiters educate clients on the wines available by the glass. Sam's Grill also adds a splash of nightlife to the mix by bringing in DJs with Thursday nights dedicated to Latin music and Friday and Saturday nights focusing on Top 40.
