The rum and brew night was fun and had lots of delicious drinks. We had expect more food options though. Considering this night had a focus on drinks, there were only 2 tables of food. I would recommend this event, just don't expect lots of foods options on the rum and brew night.

It’s always a good time at the Jerk Fest!! The rum and brew offers good Jamaican food, island music, and a variety of rum, beer and other liquors to sample from!

It was a $12 admission and festival goers had to purchase food. Food vendor choices were extremely limited. There were about five food vendors. Not much of a festival at all.

Terrible. Just a pitch to market services/products and force you to spend more money rather than celebrate the culture. Would never go again. $10 for a small hand painting job is also a farce

The food was too small portion for price (starting upwards $6.00) but was really tasty! Probably won't attend next year 2018 as the entry fee is pretty steep without a Groupon -$20.00 yikes- and that does not include a thing! Still can't understand why everything is a' la carte?

Disappointed. The food lines were crazy long and the food was cold and tasteless.

From Our Editors

In Focus: Boston JerkFest

  • What’s jerk?: besides the proper name for a guy taking up two parking spots, it’s a Caribbean cooking technique in which meat (typically chicken or pork) is dry-rubbed or marinated in zesty spices and peppers, and often paired with tropical flavors like mango or pineapple
  • What’s Boston JerkFest?: a two-day family-friendly foodie festival celebrating “jerk” and all things spicy
  • The drinks: unlimited tastings of rum, local craft beers, and other Caribbean-themed cocktails that are likely loaded with more rum
  • The music: Caribbean jam, which calls for reggae, soca, steel drums, and sultry Latin rhythms
  • Don’t miss: the multitude of chef demos, including a seafood throw-down and jerk cook-off, plus Spice Lane, a hotspot for buying hot spices
  • The overall vibe: “Irie,” a Rastafarian word that means “pleasing”
