Four Things to Know About Five Horses Tavern
The original Five Horses Tavern opened its doors in Davis Square in 2011, and a second location followed suit two years later in South End. At both, chefs spin local ingredients into modern American comfort food, while bartenders dish out elixirs from a massive selection of booze. Here are some other things to keep in mind if you visit:
Both taverns feature about 40 rotating draft beers. The Davis Square location also boasts 100 bottles—compared to South End’s 60-plus—and more than 50 different bourbons.
The decor at the Davis Square location is eclectic, to say the least. A beer star crafted from 77 different tap handles dangles above a stone fireplace and a hammered-copper bar.
KFCGH stands for Kentucky-fried cornish game hen. This popular entree comes with jalapeño-cheddar mashed potatoes and pork-belly-spiked mac and cheese.
Weekend brunch is available at the South End location. Specialties include spicy tequila bloody marys, bellinis infused with balsamic olive oil, and pizzas topped with short rib and eggs.
