food and service were excellent. The actual value of the Groupon was overrated since we had to pay an additional fee well above the $200 value for a 4 course meal for 4.

Absolutely delicious French cuisine. A three hour long meal that should have taken only two hours, though. Understaffed. I would return nonetheless!

We had to ask the busboy 3 times to send our waiter over. The service was slow & when my dinner arrived they literally forgot the main ingredient-the monk fish! Initially, I had thought they delivered the wrong dish but when the waiter said, "No that's the monk fish entree you ordered." I said, "Okay, but where's the fish? I see the clams, scallops & muscles." He was aghast & the manager did apologize. Also, there is only 1 bathroom w/ one toilet! But no toilet paper! They were definitely busy & an off night for them but I will say for the high prices they charge there should be little room for error.

The point of a Groupon, I've always thought, is to entice people to come to your restaurant, love the food and return. Not so at Petit Robert. (When I made my reservation I was told that most of the diners would have Groupons because it was the last week it was valid). the food was pretty good to terrible. Overcooked escargot, awful bouillabaisse, dishwater inion soup, out of lamb, scallops.

The staff was pleasant, but the food was uneven, ranging from excellent to poor. A pate appetizer was superb, while a pork chop main course was terribly overcooked and served with cold mashed potatoes. Escargot was flavorful, but cooked to the point of mush. Frankly, such inconsistency is not acceptable at his price point.

Clearly purchased poorer quality cuts of meat for the Groupon crowd. Sad, because if I like a Groupon-participating restaurant I usually urge others to dine there and return to pay full price. Would not recommend.

Everything we had was delicious. Service was great and the recommendations for wine and dessert were spot on. Very accommodating.

Most of the food was bland, not very flavorful. The chocoolate cake was yummy, though very small.

Had requested Needham location, but Groupon "assigned" us to South end. Very difficult to get a reservation at a decent time and not really 4 courses (they counted a side of veggies to be shared as a course). Also dessert had to be shared. Fine print said 4 course meal for 2. It was really 2 1/2 courses per person!

From Our Editors

Petit Robert Bistro channels the relaxed ambiance of an authentic French bistro where common folk can gather for comforting, affordable fare. Blackboards bearing daily specials preside over the intimate eatery where renowned chef Jacky Robert prepares a menu of homestyle French favorites. Cape Cod oysters, sautéed scallops, and Bay-caught seafood spread across plates, and meat aficionados can fix fangs into chicken dishes or the beef short-rib bourguignon or branch out to cakes fashioned from vegan quinoa. Junior foodies peruse a kids' menu laden with pintsize French favorites, including a parisian hot dog and a 5-ounce skirt steak, with all proceeds going to chef Jacky's charity committed to feeding underprivileged children in the Philippines.
