A different but fun experience. I was thinking that I had to cook my own food, but turned out to be fun. One drawback was that my clothes actually smelled from the food cooked at the table. Didn't like that too much.

The groupon does not include the cheese fondue or the chocolate dessert so if you really want to enjoy the full melting pot experience, be ready to spend a little extra money.

The Fondue for You Groupon is a great value. However, for those of you who have never been and are considering giving it a try, you should just know that Fondue for You does NOT include cheese fondue or chocolate fondue. You will pay extra if you want those selections too. ($9/person for the cheese) The Fondue for You offers you a choice of three meat/fish/vegetarian selections that you cook in broth in the fondue pot and then dip in a selection of six dipping sauces (chicken broth is complimentary or you can pay $5 extra for another cooking broth - e.g., coq au vin). It's delicious and the service was excellent.

It is very expensive, and the Groupon coupon didn't cover the two best parts of the meal -- the cheese and the chocolate. The main course is their weak point. So it turned out to be a very expensive meal, even with the coupon.

From Our Editors

When The Melting Pot originally opened in 1975 just outside Orlando, diners had just three options: swiss-cheese fondue, beef fondue, or chocolate fondue. The restaurant first expanded four years later, when an enterprising waiter at the initial location opened up a new outpost in Tallahassee. Today, the company—now owned by that original waiter, Mark Johnston, and his brothers Mike and Bob—reigns as the premier fondue, wine, and drink restaurant, stretching across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada with more than 140 restaurants and plans to expand to Saudi Arabia and Dubai. The restaurant's menu has also expanded, and patrons can now select from six varieties of hot dipping cheese fondues paired with salads, entrees, and their signature chocolate fondue.

On a given night, groups of viscous-dip-loving foodies gather around tables to nosh on cheese-fondue appetizers and various salads while cooking a variety of steaks and seafood in a choice of one of three flavored broth or traditional oil styles. Birthday revelers and romance seekers cap decadent evenings sharing the chocolate desserts that have defined The Melting Pot for decades.
