Of course anyone can walk the Freedom Trail for free on a self guided tour, but Caitlin Johnston (our tour guide) was so passionate and engaging, she commanded everyone's attention and activated all our imaginations. I can't say enough about her! We got way more than what we paid for this tour and gave her a generous tip out of shear gratitude! What a real surprise treat and a beautiful day for a tour! I'm not sure if there's a way you can request her by name when booking, but I highly recommend you try! We'll wish the extra effort!

Caitlin was very knowledgeable and led the tour group patiently. She projected very well above all the city noise. Great job!

The tour was good. I was a little bummed we didn't make it to all of the stops on the trail.

Richard, "Richie," our tour guide was incredible. Even though the weather wasn't the best, he made the tour absolutely fascinating. Also, he went above and beyond by taking us on an extended tour since only a few of us stuck it out.

From Our Editors

Unless they’re drinking copious amounts of his namesake beer, tour goers along the Freedom Trail won’t likely catch a glimpse of famous revolutionary Sam Adams. But they will hear tales about his struggle for freedom from the British—the kind of struggle that made Boston a hotbed of revolutionary activity in the 1800s. Led by costume-clad tour guides, The Path to Independence tour takes visitors along the red brick path toward famed landmarks such as Boston Common, Old Granary Burying Ground, Old South Meeting House, and Old North Church. At each spot, they’ll learn about the site’s role in colonial Boston, from its founding years in the 1630s to the fight for American independence and the key players in the fight, including Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock.
