About this Business
From Our Editors
Drakes Haus' founders Richard Fitzpatrick and Jamie Hanson love two things: burgers and wine—specifically merlot. Conventional thinking might not have put the two items together, but Richard and Jamie didn't care. They had a vision: to design and cook hamburgers themed to the different merlot-growing regions around the world. Those burgers turned out delicious, and they anchor the Drakes Haus menu.
Chefs hand-form patties infused with merlot, and then use them as the foundation for 10 different burgers, such as the Bordeaux Burger topped in blue cheese crumbles, blueberry lavender jam, and greens tossed in a champagne vinaigrette. The kitchen keeps the slider-style patties small—three ounces each—so guests can savor multiple burgers during each visit or easily sneak them into a movie. Diners can also build their own burgers or try the ever-changing burger of the month, all of which pair nicely with hand-cut fries drenched in gravy. Most visits to Drakes Haus should also include a signature drink, such as wine, a draft brew from the Colorado tap beer program), or a cool non-alcoholic milkshake.
