I went with a group of eight. We had a great time. Our tour guide, Megan was fantastic. I'd go again.

Grossly overpriced - can visit many other Milwaukee attractions for half the price of one admission. Reeked of smoke when leaving. Docent was very nice and enthusiastic, but didn't know answers to most of my questions. Woodwork in bar and madam's room were only parts of building worth seeing. Basement was dangerous (one man fell) because it is dark and there were hoses on the floor. I would not go back.

Please know this is an actual cigar bar where people are smoking indoors and whatever you wear there will stink when you get home ( jackets, purses,EVERYTHING). The tour was awesome however and I am very glad we went.

From Our Editors

Hangman Tours' knowledgeable guides lead guests on spooky jaunts through Milwaukee's haunted past. These quirky tours offer a series of historically accurate tours to suit anyone's proclivities. The flagship tour takes place inside Shaker's Cigar Bar, which since 1894 has been home to a cemetery, a speakeasy, and a brothel, and seen its share of murders. When the weather warms up in March, Hangman Tours' head outdoors with their Milwauking Dead, Whoring 20s, and Cream City Cannibal tours to retrace the steps of crooked politicians, gangsters, prostitutes, and others who checkered the city's past.
