About this business

During the tour our guide said the best time to go was late summer - July through September. I went in March and everything was brown. The tour was great and I learned more about grapes and wine! Tried 12 wines - I enjoyed all but two. Tried some new varieties and was surprised that I liked them. I would go again for sure!

I loved Ozan's laid-back atmosphere, friendly nature, and beautiful surroundings. Having been to several wine tastings in other states, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from an Alabama winery, but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by both the wines and the vineyard itself. Though I usually prefer reds, I also greatly enjoyed their whites, especially their peach wine made from Chilton County peaches. To make the experience even better, the prices were very reasonable, so I was able to take home a couple bottles. All in all, if you enjoy tasting wine without the snobbish atmosphere that can sometimes be associated with it, then I would highly recommend Ozan Vineyard & Cellars.

From Our Editors

The Patrick family first dabbled in wine-making on their 24-acre estate back in 2001, when only one other vineyard operated in Shelby County. After a few seasons of practice and success, they decided to officially dedicate a portion of their land to cultivating grapes, and formally established Ozan Vineyard & Cellars in 2005. In 2013, they expanded with additional vineyard viewing areas, event space, and a winery boutique.

Using a combination of grapes grown on their own land and sourced from the East Coast, Ozan currently produces a series of varietals, including riesling, chardonnay, Chilton County peach, Norton red, and cabernet sauvignon. Conceived of traditional winemaking methods in small lots of French and American barrels, the vinos develop multifaceted flavors and complexity before being poured in Ozan?s tasting room or into glasses on the picturesque outdoor patio.
