Shiv Bhavan Restaurant likes to focus on two words: village and mess. The chefs create what they consider "village" cuisine: comfort food made from scratch with fresh, natural ingredients and no artificial additives. That food is then served in a "mess," or a small homestyle restaurants where villagers gather, eat, and have fun—like in a mess hall.
With these two practices kept in mind, Shiv Bhavan's chefs create authentic South Indian food, as well as some of the Calgary community's favorites. Diners can find a selection of vegetarian dishes, from aloo gobi to chana masala, as well as meat-based meals like chicken tikka pakora and goat curry. And if guests are craving something a little different, the restaurant also offers sirloin burgers with spices and English cheddar, Indo-Chinese chow mein, and even fettuccine alfredo.
