On a trip to Bali, Ning Gao had a fortuitous meeting. In an attempt to make small talk at a coffee shop, she asked an old woman where she was from and received a deceptively simple answer. "Nowhere," the woman said. As Ning learned, the woman simply meant her home wasn't a place. Instead, her home was a feeling of safety and peacefulness that she brought with her wherever she went. Ning was moved by this comment, and the idea formed the core of her yoga practice.
Now, as the owner of Yoga and Beyond and one of its teachers, Ning shares that revelation with her students. She and her team of 22 instructors aim to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies through more than 91 yoga classes a week, including hot yoga, traditional hatha, Vinyasa flow, and meditative Yin yoga. The instructors tailor classes to a wide array of students, from advanced practitioners to beginners, and even moms with babies. Their goal is for everyone who walks through the door to find a style of yoga that speaks to them, presumably saying, "Hi, I'm yoga." Studio attendees can also enjoy the recently added Spin Cycle Studio.
