The carriage ride was very nice and our guide very knowledgeable. I liked that it was explained to us how the horses were worked and cared for. Would have given it 5 stars except they could improve on accessibility for folks who need it. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Staff and guide were great. Office was hard to find (not in hotel as Groupon said but about 2 blocks away). Wish I knew that before dragging my elderly mom and 3 kids along for the walk. Also, this tour company boasts only a ladder for getting up into the carriage. That's hard for the older crowd. Other carriage companies I've used have full staircase. Good deal though, especially with the Groupon discount code.

No complaints with the actual tour. My tour guide, Jeff, was good. I'm surprised no one else has complained about this: The address info on the Groupon, their website, and email is wrong. There is construction where they were previously located, so now you have to go to another location on Pinckney Street. (I got directions from the employees at the hotel where they were previously located.) Once I found their current location, the attendant instructed me to go to another street to wait for the horse across from "the restaurant". This address isn't on their website anywhere (Anson Street) and is a couple of streets over. There at least 3 carriage tour companies on that street and 2 restaurants. No sign for Carolina Polo indicating where I should wait. I walked back to the place where I signed in for clarification. I walked back to Anson Street with another family--we were the first ones there, so we figured out the exact location together. The only "signage" for where we were supposed to wait was a stepstool with faded, handwritten lettering of the company name written on the side. No employees and no shade. I write all this to say: There are tons of carriage tour companies in Charleston. I recommend one with a clearly marked location (such as Palmetto Carriage Works or Charleston Carriage Works) and one that offers shade while you wait.
