My partner and I attempted it by ourselves! We chose the Dollroom, the scenery was creepy at first and the challenges were fun and well thought out. The attendant was nice enough to give us an extra hint or two. We didn't end up finishing it, so I'd say for two people it's pretty tricky. We got about 4 of 6 locks. Recommend it! However, when asked about moving our time to a later slot, they stated that it was booked and after we left, they went home. It was frustrating to know that they lied about a later booking that we could have had more people help us.

This was really a lot of fun. We were a group of 7 with three 13 year olds. The clues were hard enough to keep teens and adults engaged, while not so hard that the teens gave up. I would certainly do it again.

We did two rooms and had a blast. One group made it out, the other didn't. :) We will be back. Such a great way to spend time with a group.

The room was pretty good. The puzzles were fairly difficult and mostly interesting. Our group made it out without any clues, but it was a challenge for sure. As far as the game master and the employees go, they didn't seem too excited to be there. Overall it was a bit chaotic as far as the feel. It seemed like items were just kind of thrown about the room. There was one clue that should have been in a box, and when we opened the box and found nothing, we were confused to a bit. The game master thought that we must have opened the box earlier, but the clue that was supposed to be in it was the first thing that I found on a table when I went in. Judging based on one room, I would say that Escape Hour has some interesting puzzles, but the production was not like what I have seen in other escape rooms. I might go back once I have tried out some other companies in the area.

From Our Editors

An hour, a room, and a team of quick-witted adventurers. These are the ingredients to a fun-filled game at Escape Hour Charlotte, an interactive escape room experience. In each room, a team of up to 12 players is locked into a room and thrown into an adventure where the stakes are high. There's only one way out—to follow the clues to escape. Here's a look at some of the games to play at Escape Hour Charlotte:

  • The Detective's Office: Detective Herlock Sholmes may be a very, very distant relative of a famous detective, but his deductive skills are not quite as sharp. Case in point: he's convinced you and your friends are behind a series of thefts. Rely on your own deduction skills to prove your innocence and escape the room. (2 to 12 players)
  • The Dollhouse: You and your courageous friends stumble upon a seemingly abandoned cottage in suburbia. Armed with a sense of adventure, you enter, only to find out that the home is anything but empty. Correct your mistake by finding a way out of the home, or become victims of a notorious and brutal serial killer. (2 to 8 players)
  • Granny's House: Through all her years of espionage, a Russian spy never had time to settle down. In lieu of grandchildren of her own, she's captured you and your friends to give you the "granny experience." Can you escape before you become her captives forever? (2 to 8 players)
