I am Paulina Havelka a candidate for Clerk of Superior Court of Mecklenburg County.
I came to the United States at the age of eleven from Poland with no knowledge of the English language. In 1997, I began working for the Mecklenburg County Clerk's office. I was a single mother of two, a fulltime student while employed full time. I worked primarily as a courtroom clerk where I saw many ins and outs of the judicial system. My experience there inspired me to become an attorney to learn all aspects of the law and to help the people that appeared in Court every day. I graduated from Appalachian School of Law in May of 2004 with a Juris Doctorate Degree. I was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in April of 2005 and opened my own practice in 2006.
I am aware of the practice of law from two perspectives: as a clerk and as an attorney.
I believe it is important for the Clerk's office to work as a team with the other parts of the judicial system to best serve the public.
A polish immigrant, the American dream was so significant to me that I challenged myself to achieve that dream personally.
I would not have accomplished that dream without hard work and the support of my family and friends. I am asking for your vote and support to fulfill yet another dream: to return to the Clerk's office as the Clerk of Mecklenburg County.
