Wonderful, fine dining restaurant, overlooking Tennessee River. This is my first choice for Chattanooga. Best bread in the world made in their affiliated bakery next door, which sells to individuals and supplies many of he restaurants in the Bluff Arts District.

Back Inn Cafe was over the top delicious! The server was perfection and the ambiance was beautiful as we were able to eat on the patio. Highly recommended.

Service is slow. Food is good--but place your order as soon as you arrive. It will take a while.

Waiter was very chatty. Steak significantly overcooked even after long conversation about degree of medium-rare i prefer. No offer for price reduction after i pointed out error & said we didnt have time for another steak to be prepared.

Had an exquisite dinner beautifully prepared, presented, and served in a remarkable historic building in the Bluff View Art District. I highly recommend the ambiance, the cuisine, and the service. Thanks for a most enjoyable evening.

From Our Editors

Inside a restored Colonial Revival mansion a stone's throw from the Tennessee River, Chef William Oglesby blends American and international dishes. Classic southern recipes take on worldly flavors, such as fried green tomatoes crowned with prosciutto and herbed goat cheese and sweet potato-crusted shrimp with fennel slaw. Local ingredients star in dishes such as the New York strip steak rubbed with espresso from nearby Rembrandt's Roasting Co and flanked by truffle-infused potatoes. Chef Oglesby and his culinary team also meet unique dietary needs with many gluten-safe options. A terrace overlooking the river, two naturally lit sunrooms, and an intimate library create a romantic atmosphere wherever guests choose to dine.
