With one visit to Root Kitchen and Wine Bar, it's easy to see executive chef Brian Hedeman's lifetime love of food and a respect for the people that grow it. Through partnerships with more than 50 regional farmers, he creates a menu full of hearty, wholesome southern dishes touched with a contemporary, cosmopolitan flair. His dishes include grits with Carolina-coast shrimp, sandwiches made with Virginia country ham, and sous-vide free-range chicken from Joyce Farms, which are served at rustic, rough-hewn tables.
