Four Things to Know About America’s Beauty Show
A one-stop shop for the beauty industry for nearly a century, America’s Beauty Show descends on Chicago’s McCormick Place each spring to bring industry professionals and students the latest in beauty trends, education, and entertainingly informative demonstrations. Read on to learn more about this titan of trade shows and its year-round opportunities:
- It’s exclusively for those in the industry. Those 65,000 people roaming the convention center each March? They’re stylists, makeup artists, nail technicians, salon owners, beauty product manufacturers, and cosmetology students. It’s like a summer camp, but one where eyeshadow and blow dryers fill duffle bags instead of cutoff jean shorts and candy smuggled from home.
- It’s produced by industry veterans. Founded in 1912, Cosmetologists Chicago represents more than 10,000 beauty professionals, monitoring licenses and schooling members on trends and cutting-edge techniques.
- It’s interactive. Want to compete in the Stars Photo Competition for best makeover, hair, or hair color? Love runway shows featuring industry celebrities that have included Pureology’s Ruth Roche and Wendy Belanger and Paul Mitchell’s Robert Cromeans? These options—and many more, including awards shows and after parties—abound at ABS.
- The educational opportunities go beyond the annual event. In addition to workshops at the trade show, Cosmetologists Chicago offers up year-round opportunities for its members, including monthly refresher courses on hair and makeup and even scholarships and home study options.
