It's a little too loud in there. Also, while we liked some of the decor, there was exactly one item that had anything to do with a bicycle. The design was made up of about 10 different ideas, none of them with much relationship to each other.

Please do something more healthy, interesting, and tasty with your sandwiches. I tried the Pepper-Crusted Turkey sandwich and thought that it was embarrassingly unappealing: a big white bun, a small slap of mayo or something, scant veggies and meat...I don't know the last time I had such a quickly thrown together (and unhealthy) sandwich. (And I'm not always healthy--I eat junk food!--but this was just unappealing in every way, except it's name. I thought I was getting a gourmet turkey sammie and...that was not the case.) P.S. That was not "multi-grain bread"; it was a heavy white bun. Not okay.

Coffee very well made. Sandwiches good but ther echoice of bread is questionable - there are better bread choices in these parts (D'Amato's, La Briola, Bennison's) - their's lacked any real character. They converted my Groupon into a Gift Card, which was great because I wasn't going to spend $30 any possible way otherwise.

The cashiers should know the prices of the menu items. I had to correct a cashier who overcharged me by $1. He was nice about it, but given that the menu is relatively small, this shouldn't be an issue.

From Our Editors

Kickstand Coffee When he’s not dropping rhymes on stages across Chicago, rapper Verbal Kent retires to Kickstand Coffee, where he exchanges the title of MC for that of owner. Kent and his staff compile the best of the city’s coffees and baked goods on a single menu, brewing locally roasted Metropolis blends to pair with desserts from Fritz Pastry. The self-described “needle in a haystack” has no trouble standing out with its wide selection of hot teas and Mexican cocoa. The first thing customers tend to notice, however, is the décor, which incorporates wood reclaimed from crates, furniture, and antique filing cabinets.
