Intelligentsia and Metropolis are the two major suppliers of Chicago's local coffeehouses, but they’re certainly not the only options in a city that seems to have a coffee shop on every corner. Many shops also host “guest roasters” from across the country, often small-batch roasters who produce distinctive coffees from fair-trade or direct-trade beans. If you plan to eat at Wolfgang Puck, they close at 2:30 (at least when we were there)...the coffee shop part stays open. You may go to this museum because you've heard of a particular exhibit, but often there's something even more wonderful around the corner or on a different floor. And often the exhibits have an interactive quality. A great place to take a friend or relative with limited strength or stamina....it's a small museum, and you can see everything in one trip if you choose. When my kids were young, we came often....and I can still entice them (in their 20s) to come for certain exhibits. Don't miss the store!
