Famous for being the pioneers of wind power, the Dutch have recently harnessed another untapped energy reserve: the power of up to 16 people on a pub crawl. As a group, these human pistons pedal a giant Dutch-made bike, imported to Chicago’s Near West Side, where, with a robust barrel at its helm, it resides as the PedalPub. When renting this party on wheels, 16 passengers pump their legs to supply the power and choose a suggested or custom route along which the PedalPub pilot steers. Get some light exercise, fetch some envious stares from pedestrians, and cruise beside the outdoor seating that blooms along Division Street in Ukrainian Village or past the reclaimed warehouses of the West Loop. Food and nonalcoholic drinks stow safely in roof racks, fueling legs for bursts between bars or for impromptu drag races with a ricksha. For more information, check out the FAQs.
