About this Business
From Our Editors
At Senem's Coffee & Tea House, founder Senem Akturk brews specialty coffees and quells lunchtime belly rumblings with beef, turkey, or vegetarian sandwiches. Waves of WiFi wash through the café, and Senem serves turkish coffee in silver or copper cups along with other traditional Turkish mainstays, such as sekerpare—soft pastries sweetened with syrup—and salep, a hot milk shake prepared with orchid-root flour. More than a dozen varieties of loose-leaf teas slake thirst, and espresso drinks made with Metropolis Coffee blends imbue drinkers with energy more efficiently than installing wind turbines on their heads.
