Don’t buy. They don’t make exceptions if you fall Victim to covid-19 & cannot make your tour. Paid for a sail boat tour & ended up doing nothing but giving my scarce covid impacted income to a Groupon & the tall ship. What kind of service operates during a global pandemic & doesn’t help someone who could potentially have infected the entire tour group

I unfortunately was late and called ahead of time but they didn't really care to do anything. Despite leaving early, there was an accident on the highway on the way there and it was out of my control. I spoke to them once I arrived but they just shrugged their shoulders... I was not able to reschedule or get a refund.

My family and I went on the Tall Ship Windy on September 7th 2021. Instructions stated to arrive 15-20 minutes prior for boarding and safety directions. We did, but ended up just standing in the hot sun for 20 minutes. Nothing started until the actual departure time. As we were boarding with our tickets a female crew member loudly snapped at us, "I can't scan this!" Apparently they are not able to scan the groupon tickets. If you buy groupon tickets, you need to go to the box office to get their tickets. We were never provided this information! You would think having dozens of people standing in line for 20 minutes, a crew member might have made an announcement or checked with customers, but no. Eventually we were able to board once the box office tickets were scanned. We chose to sit towards the front of the ship, which was a mistake. For one, the surface was so hot that even with pants on, it felt like my skin was burning. I had to sit on my jacket to be comfortable. Crew members constantly had to move back and forth where we were sitting. We realize it is important for the crew to be able to do their job, but they really should mark off those sections. So customers do not sit there. It was frustrating constantly having to stand up to allow them to pass back and forth. We would have moved, but the ship was packed. At first the pirate music was cute, but then it became overkill. I wish they had played some staple Chicago songs in addition to the pirate music. A female crew member with pink hair controlled the microphone. It was hard to understand what she was saying because she literally had her mouth directly on mic. Towards the end of the tour she made this announcement going on and on about how they are a small family business and mentioned tips. She presumptuously stood with an open treasure chest for tips. Just because you are a small family business does not entitle you to automatic tips or support. you earn tips and support with good customer service and professionalism. Overall the experience was meh. The view of the shoreline was pretty, but that was it. I would not go out of my way to recommend the Tall Ship Windy.
