OMG! Never again! We came to a locked restaurant and knocked and were let in and told that the sushi chef was ill. Apparently there was no chef. We were not allowed to order anything but ramen and that was horrible. It was a vat of water and noodles, no flavor. we ordered the seafood one and there was barely any seafood in it. We make better ramen at home. The gomae was unlike any I had ever had. It is normally one of my favorite dishes. It looked like pond scum and was sickeningly sweet. We were charged $16.50 for each ofthe ridiculous ramen. I had never before felt so ripped off in my life. If they could not run the restaurant without any chef they should have turned us away.

The fish was very fresh and good but the udon broth was tasteless. The tempera was good but not having a sushi chef on the night we were there was not good.

Be forewarned that this is not the TaMpopo of old, but TaNpopo: new, quite lovely owners, but also new, not-so-tasty food.

Bring both people's dish at the same time. It took way too long for my ramen, and for $16+, I expected more seafood. Crab claws with no way to crack them was unacceptable. The atmosphere and music were very nice; the waitress was pleasant; the food and service needs work.

From Our Editors

Outside, the street bustles with people, but inside Tanpopo, a calmness floods the senses. The serene restaurant glows with softly lit paper lanterns, which illuminate wooden room dividers and matching tables, Japanese wall tapestries, and plates groaning under colorful sushi rolls. These vie for taste bud's affections with other Japanese dishes and Korean eats, such as koroke deep-fried potato balls with corn and beef morsels, skewered shrimp, and housemade curries.
