Between the mariachi-inspired attire, after party, and motto "Will run for Margaritas," the Viva La Margarita 5K seems more like a party than a race. Participants can walk, run, or overcome their fear of measuring things in kilometers along the 3.1-mile course, all while wearing costumes and sombreros. After crossing the finish line, folks cool down and socialize over a complimentary margarita or a refreshing nonalcoholic beverage. Better yet, the revelry all goes toward supporting a good cause. The event's charitable partner is the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundations, which provides college scholarships and long-term educational counseling to the children of fallen soldiers.
