My family and I had a lot of fun learning how to sail. We all had a chance to work different areas. If you love the water, I recommend coming here.

$49 seems like a good price for two. This little boat was fun and I had a good time, but not if the price were $49 a piece.

Maybe having a sign on the dock that says Scovare Expeditions picks up here. We weren't very familiar with the area and were afraid we were at the wrong place.

Delighted we did this harbor cruise. The boat was comfortable, safe, and well-equipped. The captain was knowledgeable and interesting in his descriptions of what we were seeing and of the city's and river's history. This is a must for current Portlanders and tourists alike!

We were a little worried about being too cold but when we got on board it was nice and cosy. The trip was very enjoyable and our captain gave us a history tour of the bridges.

Our captain was delightful and knowledgeable and the ride was enjoyable. (Unfortunately the weather was lousy.) We did feel we had been misled into believing that we would be 'sailing', but instead were assigned the fishing schooner. The sail was up for a very short period of time. (The photos on the website are different boats entirely.) We would consider taking out of town guests out on excursion in the future.

The captain of our sailboat was great! He gave us so much information about the city and catered our trip to what we were curious about. Thoroughly enjoyed our sail! ~Travellers from Tennessee.

From Our Editors

With more than 25 years of maritime experience, Shane St. Clair captains Scovare Expeditions' fleet of sailboats, unveiling the windblown channels of the Willamette River to budding sailors and sightseeing passengers. During sailing tours, passengers can bob across the river while taking in the views of the volcanic caldera of Elk Rock Island or feast on three-course meals as the sails fill up with wind like a balloon ruining its dinner. A new Cape Cod Catboat available for charter takes tours, classes, and small dinners on a glide, and a sleek Aquarius sailboat keeps guests boating in style. Those interested in learning the ropes can sign up for sailing lessons, where savvy instructors teach novices how to command the helm, guide the lines, and barter with miserly seagulls.
