From Our Editors
Freeway Music isn't named for the roads around it, but for the freedom students have to choose their own curriculum. The studio's 20-plus instructors can cover any area of music, from reading notation and improvising to studying styles such as jazz or blues. Each private session can focus on an eclectic array of instruments, including piano, mandolin, and flute. To showcase each student's progress, Freeway Music hosts five annual recitals that accommodate solo pieces, ensemble tunes, and even the original compositions of select pupils. Besides lessons, Freeway Music houses song-and-dance classes for preschoolers, as well as rock-band classes whose weekly rehearsals prep players for upcoming concerts.
