Though its been around for 50 years and counting, the Verde Valley Fair is still just as youthful as the day it began back in 1965. Of course, it's easy for the fair to stay young, what with all the food, rides, music, and family entertainment that comes with it.
The fair's secret to longevity isn't just its carnival atmosphere, though: it's the fact that it doubles as a showcase for the community's students, whose projects steal the spotlight every spring. FFA, 4-H, and other youth groups use the fair as a stage to show off their many talents and accomplishments. Some students specialize in arts and crafts, photography, and floriculture; others work extensively with livestock and agriculture. Many youngsters even squeeze their way into the fair's lineup of entertainment by singing, dancing, and doing gymnastics.
