Piccolo Casa proves you don’t need to leave Covington to visit Northern Italy nearly 5,000 miles across the Atlantic. But how? Teleportation? A rift in the space-time continuum? Nope—just authentic recipes, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, and a passion for hospitality. In other words, Piccolo Casa's staff aim to summon the warmth, friendliness, and culinary joviality the region is known for right from inside their charming old-world restaurant, which is aptly located within an antiquated townhouse—or “casa”— replete with rustic hardwood floors and fireplaces.
But make no mistake. Just because the chefs here take inspiration from the boot-shaped country across the pond doesn’t mean they don’t think outside-the-recipe box. In addition to preparing staples such as pasta alfresco and potato gnocchi, they regularly whip up more creative offerings that range from a leg of lamb served with anchovy butter instead of mint and a bruschetta consisting of pickled beets, parsley pesto, and burette cheese. But no matter what winds up on the plate, be it a classic Italian specialty or a contemporary revision, a curated wine list with nearly 50 reds and whites from around the world will help to round out the bold, symphonic flavors of the meal.
