The friendly instructors at Kira's Oasis offer belly-dancing classes well suited to prospective students of all experience and fitness levels. Beginners curious to learn the belly basics and familiar gyrators looking to fine-tune their technique will all find something to benefit them within Kira’s calming confines. Monday night classes (6:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.) are specifically crafted for those new to the ancient Middle Eastern dance form, providing a basic rundown of the techniques, as well as warm-ups and drills to aid muscle memory. Tuesday (7:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) and Wednesday (6:15 p.m.–7:15 p.m.) classes up the ab-sculpting ante with more-challenging movements, combinations, and choreography. Sunday evenings (6:15 p.m.–7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) are set aside for dancers wishing to explore the American Tribal Style (ATS) of belly dance, which combines traditional elements with contemporary and folkloric dance forms. Rather than stressing sultry solo moves, tribal fusion centers on group improvisation, fostering communication and a feeling of sisterhood rivaled only by public viewings of The Alchemic Secrets of the Ja-Ja Sisterhood of the Hermetic Pantaloons.
