Every so often it's refreshing to leave the interior of a gym and head outside for a workout. Especially when you get the chance to use one of the world's best amphitheatres as your playground. Fitness on the Rocks exists sets up shop at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and beckons participants outside for fitness classes attended by up to 4,000. Total Body Blast takes over the sprawling amphitheatre space for a workout that combines pushups, squats, and box jumps to challenge core muscles and boost endurance. Yoga uses rock benches as stretching and meditation vessels, and Zumba motivates participants to work up a sweat while dancing to Latin rhythms and the echoes of bears singing in the hills behind the venue.
Meanwhile, the Mile Up the Rocks sends runners up and down the Amphitheatre's steep stairs eight times. And the event isn't all for the endorphins. The Fundraiser Rice Haul pairs participants with bags of rice that they transport up the stairs to the plaza to raise money for Project Worthmore, which feeds Burmese refugees in Denver.
