Bought this Groupon so that I could get me dog's teeth cleaned and nails trimmed before my family came to visit for my graduation. Unfortunately, it was the worst vet experience I've ever had.
First, when I called to set up an appointment I found out they were booked out past when the Groupon expired. They couldn't even get us in till after my graduation which was a huge disappointment.
After setting up an initial appointment, I called back to reschedule the date, only to find out the receptionist failed to actually schedule the first one I had made. Later, when I scheduling the follow up appointment at the office (dog pulling on me, wanting to leave), I asked if she could write the date/time down or print it for me since I couldn't because my hands were full. She simply said "no need, we'll call you the day before to remind you and also tell you not to feed your dog for 24 hours before." Then she picked up the phone for an incoming call. So, I just repeated the date and time in my head till I got to the car and could write it down. Funny thing, I never got that reminder call she promised.
One strange thing was that there were no other clients/patients in the waiting room when we showed up for our preliminary check up, and only one other woman with her cat when I dropped off my dog for the procedure at the second appointment. Despite this odd, empty, quiet, slow waiting room, the receptionist had to keep commenting how busy they were. I feel it was to make up for the fact she wasn't very organized and seemed somewhat distracted.
When we came in for our initial check up I was kept waiting in the exam room for an unnecessary amount of time. When they brought my dog back to the room from pulling his blood for his blood work, no one came back to tell me what to expect or do next. I sat in the room 10 minutes before going to the front to ask what we were waiting for or what was going on. The receptionist went to check and it was another 5 minutes before we were told we were good and could just go.
The day of the procedure I dropped off my dog, and they told me they would call me later when it was time to pick up my dog. I did get a call when they finished the cleaning and nail trimming, and they told me to come and pick him up in about 3 hours and he would be ready, though to expect him to be very groggy, slow and loopy from the sedative. When I showed up at the time they told me, they confessed they did not have him ready yet. They had not removed the needle in his arm that they use to administer the sedative nor take of the massive amount of gauze that was holding it. I waited in the front for another 45 minutes. In that time I could hear my dog yelping and crying worse than I had ever heard. I also heard someone, yelling at him to stop. Soon the door opened and he came running to me with three loop-style, disposable choke collars around his neck. The attendant asked me to take them off because he wouldn't let them near him. And I don't blame him. They waited too long to take the things out of his arm and it was hurting him immensely in the process. Here I was expecting to need to carry my buddy to the car and nurse him the rest of the evening, where instead I met a fully awake, alert, traumatized dog that was pulling full strength on his leash to leave.
My dog has always been nervous and afraid of going to the vet, but he was always sweet and submissive to his handlers. Since this experience, he has become more terrified than ever about the vet and is now aggressive when he didn't used to be.
The cost of the deal despite the Groupon rate was not worth the hassle, the stress, and the undue trauma it put on my dog. I feel so bad and guilty for putting him through that. It was a huge waste, especially since we couldn't even use it for it's original purpose of getting him ready to see my family when they visited.
In short–don't take you dog here. The deal is not worth it.
