Choice Eye Center, Draper

Dr. Donna Melton grew up in the Hoosier State of Indiana. Her father founded his own optical business, Shimp Optical, in downtown Indianapolis serving the local area for over 50 years. Committed to serving those who serve others, Shimp Optical was recognized as a leader in focusing on the optical needs of local community groups, such as the police and fire departments. As the oldest of seven children, Donna grew up working in the family business doing everything you would expect from a full-service optical business.

After marrying her husband, Donna decided to start her own studies to become an optometrist. During her studies she became interested in specializing in vision therapy. She picked up additional courses through the summer and internships focusing on contact lenses and vision therapy, especially with pediatric patients. While juggling the challenges of being a military spouse as well as a mother of three, she completed her optometry degree from Ohio State University in 1993.

Dr. Melton has held licenses in Ohio, Virginia, California, Montana, Massachusetts, and now Utah. She has enjoyed providing volunteer services in places such as Mexico, and several inner-city populations throughout the US. Showing compassion for others is a key quality Dr. Melton brings to all her patients.

Choice Eye Center is located in Draper off of 12300 S 800 E in Dillman Square. Having begun right at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Choice Eye Center has been met with plenty of additional challenges for a new practice. But by focusing on quality care and customer experience, Choice Eye Center has been able to pull through these unprecedented times.
