CrossFit workouts are not meant to be easy, though they are meant to be accessible to students of any fitness level. They incorporate functional movements alongside elements of track, gymnastics, and weightlifting, encouraging students to push themselves through sequences of pulling, squatting, jumping, throwing, carrying, sprinting, and levitating. Yet every drop of sweat falls in a safe and supportive group environment. Coaches Carlo Profico and Keakahiwalani Landschoot help each attendee scale the load as well as the intensity of the exercises, creating workouts that are challenging, yet doable. Increased strength and stamina is a given over time, but the coaches also hope to inspire their students mentally and emotionally by helping them overcome the workouts’ physical challenges and mid-rep pop quizzes.
