Carol Lorance had just finished a rough nursing shift at the hospital. She was exhausted, so she clicked on the TV. While flipping through the channels, she found something that woke her up: a demonstration on silk painting. Immediately she bought supplies and an instructional DVD and soon was feeling the silk in her fingers, touching paint to it and creating zen-like works of art. In that moment, her life changed courses. She studied graphic design, opened Dragonfly Silks, and began reliving that discovery over and over again while teaching students the art of silk painting.
