Place was pretty terrible. We were the only ones there and it took 30 minutes for 2 small dishes and an appetizer to come out. And food was nothing special. Had the same kind of bowl at another restaurant in town for less $ and more flavor and bigger portion.

Service is slow, & the food doesn't have much taste. I want to love it, because it is very Weight Watchers friendly, but I wouldn't recommend this place. They expanded their menu, so I thought I'd give it a try, but was disappointed.

Décor is very plain. It also took a long time for our food to arrive. Music was too loud at the bar, so we moved to a table. We ordered a rice bowl with broccoli, but most of our broccoli was stem pieces. I'm sorry, I just didn't enjoy it all that much.

From Our Editors

Before she opened Lo-Cal Cafe, Chef Robin honed her skills at a French culinary school. But she actually began learning about cooking as a child, watching as her mother fashioned fresh, simple ingredients into elaborate feasts. Now, she draws on both branches of experience to prepare healthy gourmet entrees, all of which contain 500 calories or less. Options range from protein-rich banana pancakes to veggie bowls with a choice of whole-wheat penne, brown rice, couscous, or quinoa, and a variety of proteins. Stop into the café or order prepared meals from Robin's weekly meal plan service.
